Concord Deluxe BASS (PG2) Go Back to the Main Concorde Deluxe Page or the Home Page The pickup surrounds had lost a lot of the original Gold Glisten, most likely through sweat and toil at the rhythm (well it's kewl to think that). Still, compared to other parts of the gold hardware they had received the shorter straw for longevity! I like to think the solid and friendly feel of this instrument represents the father figure in the collection. There's something about the deep tones, and impressive looks, it was good to see this minor surgery help him back to peak perfection...
Then there there was eBay... and Kjell's 'NOS' Gold surrounds...
Perfect to improve the "old father" of the collection (photos with and without flash)
Spray coating with wet layers of
clear polyester lacquer
View the underside of the pickup assembly...
Note the solid block behind the bridge pickup, before the bridge itself.
Comparing the new and old side by side...
Stripped pickups
Solid block at neck end - that's a nice block of wood here!
all precision cut and routed...
clean and solid...
... AND FINALLY The finished articles... I love that reflection...
TIP! Swap the screws hidden
beneath the pickguard to the other end - nice and clean!
NOW....Where's my curly cable... ah yes, switch on the amp... Bdng, Bdng-Bdng...
